The chairperson, vice chairperson, and secretary of the Codex Alimentarius Commission Secretariat will be in attendance at the conference. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director General of WHO, will also participate digitally in the event.

According to Nadda, representatives from over 70 nations and 30 international organizations, including universities, research centers, and agencies in charge of risk assessment and food safety, will be present at the event. The World Health Organization (WHO), World Trade Organization (WTO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Codex Alimentarius Commission, European Food Safety Authority, and the Joint Institute for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, USA, are among the organizations taking part in the summit.

“The conclave is focused on enhancing regional collaboration in the standard-setting process within the Codex Alimentarius Commission. This will provide a dedicated platform for Asian countries to discuss food safety, trade, and regulatory challenges unique to the region,” Nadda said. He also added that the conclave’s main objectives are to strengthen regional cooperation in the Codex Alimentarius Commission’s standard-setting process and give Asian nations a forum to talk about trade, regulatory issues, and food safety.

“GFRS 2.0 will focus on critical topics such as mitigation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), regulation of health supplements and nutraceuticals, sustainable food packaging, ensuring food safety and nutrition for all, residue and contaminant monitoring systems, new age analysis in food testing, and the impact of animal feed on food safety and sports and nutrition,” Nadda stated.

The event will also mark the premiere of “Flavours of Shree Anna–Sehat aur Swaad Ke Sang,” a 13-episode Doordarshan series that promotes millet-based cuisine to raise awareness of nutrition.
