Following their departure from royal responsibilities, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have dived into various ventures, including Netflix documentaries, leading the Invictus Games, and philanthropy. They’ve unveiled a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and are developing two new shows for streaming platforms. Yet, Meghan’s aspirations post-UK have not been fully realized, unlike Prince Harry’s cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, who have opted for conventional jobs out of the public eye.

Meghan Markle’s Aspirations for Fame

Upon resigning their royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan aimed for a life with more privacy and less media scrutiny. However, according to royal commentator Jane Barr, Meghan might have sought a different path. In his newsletter ‘From Berkshire to Buckingham,’ Barr suggests Meghan’s successful acting career before marrying Harry could have fueled her desire for greater prominence. As reported by Mirror, he notes that a semi-royal role wouldn’t fulfil Meghan’s ambitions.

“Meghan hoped to leverage her HRH title and her status to become an international superstar, independent of the Royal Family’s influence,” Barr remarked, emphasizing her wish to establish her identity separate from royal constraints.

Meghan’s Discontent with a Quieter Life

Despite belonging to the royal family, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Harry’s cousins, live relatively subdued lives. Barr hints that Meghan might have found such a lifestyle unsatisfying. He reflects on the couple’s departure from royal duties, noting that Harry’s position as the son of the future king and the spare heir gave him a different standing than his cousins, who, despite their royal status, took on roles more removed from the limelight.
