Despite the deaths of its leader and many top commanders, Hezbollah’s deputy chief has said that the Lebanese armed group is prepared to face an Israeli ground invasion. Israel has not targeted Hezbollah’s military capabilities, according to Sheikh Naim Qassem, who gave a defiant statement to the nation on Monday.

Despite the difficulties sustained during the bombardment of Lebanon in recent days, he assured that the Iran-linked armed force will continue fighting.

Qassem claimed that following the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Friday, the organization’s operations have proceeded at the same or faster speed. He stated that Hezbollah will soon establish a new leadership through “internal mechanisms”.

Qassem went on to say that the decision for new leadership is apparent, but he didn’t elaborate. “We are quite ready, if the Israelis want a ground incursion, the resistance forces are ready for that,” he added.

Hezbollah will continue with its main goals despite Israel’s aim of creating chaos with aggression and massacres against civilians in Lebanon, Qassem continued.

“Israel is committing massacres in all areas of Lebanon until no house remains untouched by Israeli aggression,” he claimed. “Israel targeted people, ambulances, children, and the elderly.

It executes atrocities rather than fights fighters. Qassem also emphasized the importance of the United States, which he described as “a partner with Israel, through unlimited military support – culturally, politically, and financially”.
