Ram Madhav, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stated on Wednesday that the disappointing performance of the National Conference in Jammu signifies a direct dismissal of Omar Abdullah’s position on “Article 370”. The residents of Jammu and Kashmir disapproved of Omar Abdullah. Madhav stated that Omar’s policy on Article 370 was strongly opposed due to his failure to win any seats in the Jammu region. He also mentioned that the National Conference gained from split votes in the valley, but their vote share was still lower than that of the BJP.
This statement followed Omar Abdullah expressing his desire for the reinstatement of Article 370, stating, “It is part of our political ideology.” “We are prepared for the fight ahead.” Even though the NC-Congress alliance emerged victorious in the Jammu and Kashmir elections by securing 48 seats, the BJP achieved its highest-ever outcome in J&K with 29 seats. Immediately following the election outcomes, NC leader Omar Abdullah emphasized that granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would be a primary focus for their government in the union territory. Ram Madhav responded by stating that Omar should seek out the central government for the reinstatement of statehood.
Ram Madhav assured that Omar will have no issues running the government despite his remarks about working with the Modi administration. Both sides should display gentlemanship. Omar occasionally acts in a manner similar to Kejriwal. Omar is equally responsible for keeping friendly relations with the central government.
Ram Madhav mentioned that despite not winning any seats in the valley, the BJP will focus on gaining the trust of the locals in the area. The BJP must contemplate whether to expand as a party across the entire valley or remain focused solely on the Jammu region. There was a great amount of support for the BJP in the valley, however, we failed to translate it into votes. He stated that we will soon gain the trust of the valley community and secure positions in the valley.
