According to Lebanon’s health minister, 37 persons have died as a result of an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut, including three children and seven women.
More than sixty persons were injured in the strike, which destroyed two buildings in the Dahiya neighborhood of the Lebanese capital on Friday during rush hour, according to Health Minister Firass Abiad during a press conference on Saturday.
According to Abiad, the ages of the three children who were killed were four, six, and ten. Seventeen persons were still being looked for beneath the debris by emergency services.
From Beirut, Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari stated, “[The rescue operation] could continue for another day or so.” She continued, “There’s still a feeling of shock and fear.” There aren’t many people here because most of the stores in this area have closed and many have made the decision to pack up and leave.
