Vinesh Phogat, a former Indian wrestler who experienced a great deal of heartache at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, is about to make her political debut after joining the Congress party. Vinesh chose to give up wrestling after learning she had been disqualified from the women’s 50 kg final at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris due to her weight. In the 2019 Haryana elections, she submitted her nomination and plans to run from Jind’s Juliana Constituency. Her total assets were partially revealed by the disclosure of income and assets in the affidavit she filed with the nomination.
Three automobiles, worth a combined Rs 35 lakh for the Volvo XC 60, Rs 12 lakh for the Hyundai Creta, and Rs 17 lakh for the Toyota Innova, are registered in Vinesh’s name, according to the affidavit. It further mentioned that she is paying back a debt associated with one of her vehicles. Her immovable property was assessed to be worth Rs 2 crore.
Vinesh further stated that she had Rs 1.95 lakh, and based on her income tax records, her earnings for the fiscal year 2023–2024 were Rs 13,85,000. Before Vinesh entered politics, his uncle Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestling coach, stated that his daughter Sangeeta Phogat would now continue on his goal because he had already started training her.
Earlier this Friday, former wrestler Vinesh and her husband, Sangeeta Punia, who won bronze in the Olympics in Tokyo, joined the Congress. Vinesh will run for office in the Jind district’s Juliana. Exclusive to JioSaavn.com, listen to the newest music
Sangeeta Phogat is being prepared for the 2028 Games, when she is expected to bring home gold for India. However, Vineesh should have participated in the Olympics in Los Angeles. Sangeeta missed her countrymen because of the protests at Jantar Mantar. I don’t see the sense in Babita Phogat returning to the mat because of her knee problems,” Mahavir Phogat told IANS.
