Following accusations from the Telugu Desam Party regarding the use of “animal fat” in the prasadam offered to Lord Venkateswara during the previous Jagan Reddy government’s tenure, Amul released a statement on Friday clarifying that they have never supplied ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) for laddu preparation.
Amul said in response to the issue on X (formerly known as Twitter), “This is in reference to some social media posts mentioning that Amul Ghee was being supplied to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). We wish to inform that we have never supplied Amul Ghee to TTD.”
Amul has also added to this saying, “We also wish to clarify Amul Ghee is made from Milk at our state-of-the-art production facilities which are ISO certified. Amul Ghee is made from high quality pure milk fat. The milk received at our dairies passes through stringent quality checks including adulteration detection as specified by FSSAI.

AR Dairy, a company situated in Tamil Nadu that provided ghee to the Tirupati Lord Balaji shrine, claimed that the authorities had duly approved the purity of their product samples. The company from Dindigul explained that each batch of ghee was accompanied by certified lab tests and that they only provided ghee to the Tirumala shrine in June and July.
Speaking on Friday at a public gathering in the Prakasam district, Naidu charged that the previous government had bought cheap ghee for TTD at a discount. “Today, we have changed the ghee supplier and have started procuring Nandini brand ghee from Karnataka,” he declared.
