Nearly a week after 19-year-old actress Mamie Laverock, known for her role in “When Calls the Heart,” was critically injured in a fall from a five-story height, placing her on life support, her family has shared an update on her condition.

“Mamie is undergoing surgery today, after her body suffered extensive injuries. She has already powered through two surgeries, each lasting 11 hours, with the expertise of two dedicated doctors, and a three-hour operation, with another scheduled for today. Our hearts are filled with appreciation for the incredible team of doctors and nurses caring for her since May 26,” a statement on a GoFundMe page, started by Mamie’s parents, Nicole Rockmann, John Laverock, and stepfather Rob Compton, conveyed.

The statement further adds, “Comparatively, Mamie is doing well, especially when considering her state upon arrival. Her resilience through these extensive surgeries and the immense pain is a testament to her strength and determination not to give up. We’re holding on to the daily miracles and are endlessly thankful for the continued prayers and support. Our daughter’s love for life and family is fueling her fight every day.”

The young Canadian actress met with a “life-threatening” accident on May 26, after falling from a balcony at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, where she was receiving treatment for an undisclosed medical emergency that occurred on May 11.

An earlier update on the fundraiser shared that Nicole Rockmann had traveled to Winnipeg to assist her daughter in distress: “Nicole managed to arrive just in time to save her life and ensure she received hospital care in Winnipeg,” Mr. Compton revealed. Mamie was later moved to the Vancouver hospital and had shown signs of recovery.

However, Ms. Rockmann and Mr. Compton shared a heart-wrenching update about the incident: “We are heartbroken to report that on May 26, Mamie, after two weeks of intensive treatment, was escorted from a secure hospital unit to a balcony, from which she fell five stories, resulting in life-threatening injuries. She has undergone multiple surgeries and is currently on life support.”

During this challenging time, the couple expressed, “We are all devastated, in shock, and struggling greatly.”

Providence Health Care, operating St. Paul’s Hospital, stated they couldn’t comment on the incident due to privacy laws but confirmed an internal critical incident review is underway. “Our hearts are with the patient, her family, and everyone touched by this tragic event. We wish her a full recovery,” the spokesperson told The Epoch Times.

Co-stars from “When Calls the Heart” have rallied to show their support. Johannah Newmarch and Erin Krakow have shared heartfelt messages and encouragements for financial support on social media, echoing the sentiments of Mitchell Kummen and Ava Grace Cooper.

Canadian artist Justin Maas has also paid tribute to Mamie with a portrait, expressing optimism for her recovery and admiration for her courage.
