Marvel Studios’ Deadpool and Wolverine were adored by fans all around the globe. The 2024 Marvel Comics-based American superhero movie starring Deadpool and Wolverine is aiming for an Oscar nomination. The film was a massive success, breaking records as the top-grossing R-rated movie ever. Earning more than 1 billion USD worldwide, it also contributed to Marvel Studios surpassing 30 billion USD in global box office revenue.
Currently, Disney is looking to increase the film’s success by acquiring more prestigious awards. It is prepared to mimic the achievements of the 2016 initial version. Disney is committed to promoting the Superhero genre within prominent award organizations. According to a report from Variety, Reynolds’ portrayal of Deadpool will be entered in the comedy genre. In addition, Jackman has been nominated for the Oscars in the Supporting Actor category, as well as the Golden Globes’ Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, production design, sound, and visual effects.
Variety stated that Deadpool and Wolverine are close to securing a place in the Golden Globes’ new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, which honors the most well-received and profitable films of the year.
Previously, Reynolds used Instagram to encourage the academy to include stunt categories in the Oscars. Following the success of Deadpool and Wolverine over other MCU movies, Reynolds posted some photos with the stunt performers from the film and suggested that the academy should introduce a category dedicated to movie stunts. I hope that one day stunt work will be recognized with its own category at The Oscars. Many movies absolutely KILLED it this year… Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, and Chaplin were both stunt performers and filmmakers. “He said they tell stories through their entire bodies.”
He acknowledged the complete stunt crew for his movie and remarked, “The Deadpool and Wolverine stunt team exceeded expectations.” There are numerous friends I’ve collaborated with for a long time, and I will dedicate my time doodling their names in my Heidi Stationary, adding heart dots to all the “i’s”. He also praised his teammates for their superb skills and recognized his stunt double, Alex Kyshkovych, whom he has collaborated with since the original Deadpool movie. He (Alex Kyshkovych) doesn’t just match me in skill – he also holds the position of Fight Coordinator. I would endure a blow from a sledgehammer to protect Alex. The actor further commented that he would rather request Alex to be hit in the face with a sledgehammer for Alex.
In addition to the main actors, Deadpool and Wolverine also features Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Aaron Stanford, and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is set to come out on digital streaming services such as Prime Video and Apple TV+ on October 1. It will be available on 4K Blu-ray and DVD on October 22 as well.
