PM-UDAY aims to grant ownership rights to residents of unauthorized colonies

As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, attention has once again turned to the PM-UDAY program, which seeks to offer ownership rights to residents of unauthorized colonies.

The initiative, which was launched five years ago before the previous elections, has recently come under examination after Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, discovered substantial delays and impediments in its implementation. Taking action, the LG has directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to resolve pending applications in a mission manner.

This decision came after Saxena visited many unlawful colonies and heard inhabitants complain about the time-consuming regularization procedure. In response, special camps will be held in certain places from November 30 to December 31, to provide on-the-spot regularization services humanely and efficiently.

According to a statement from LG’s office, each camp would function under a single window-clearing method, offering comprehensive support for document submission, inspection, notarization, and other required actions.

Area Tehsildars, SDMs, and a large team of DANICS and IAS probationers will be stationed at these camps to ensure prompt processing. Furthermore, 122 PM-UDAY Mitras will be on hand to assist candidates, it stated.

The camps will accept new applications, resolve current difficulties, and assist with final submissions to collect the required documentation. A coordinated social media and traditional media effort, involving Resident Welfare Associations, will guarantee that people are aware of these options, according to the statement.
