The dip in the temperature comes as the air quality in Delhi remains under the 'very poor' category.

According to the Met Department, Delhi saw the coldest morning of the season on Thursday, with a minimum temperature of 10.1 degrees Celsius, 0.2 notches below normal. Before this, on November 21, Delhi saw its coldest dawn of the season, with temperatures reaching 10.2 degrees Celsius. However, by November 25, temperatures had risen to 14 degrees Celsius.

The temperature dip is caused by winds moving from the northwest, bringing cold from the mountains. It is possible that the weather may fall below 10°C on Friday.

The lowest daytime temperature was observed on November 19 at 23.5 degrees Celsius, then increasing to 27.2 degrees Celsius on November 18 and 23. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was 27.3 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal and the third lowest of the season.

This year, October had record-high temperatures, breaking a 74-year-old record. The previous greatest average maximum temperature in October was 36.2 degrees Celsius in 1951.

In November, the temperature continues above usual. Pollution levels in Delhi remain high, as the 24-hour average index for air quality (AQI) did not fall below 300 this month.

According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the national capital’s AQI was 313, placing it in the “very poor” category, with a heavy layer of haze still blanketing the city as of 9 a.m.
