War seems to be the likely outcome as Hezbollah continues to attack Israel in solidarity with Hamas. Israel has started to deploy troops to its northern border in preparation for a potential all-out war against Hezbollah. Deploying troops on its northern border to Lebanon indicates a change in Israel’s viewing of the situation with Hezbollah.

Israel is already at war with Hamas after Hamas massacred 1,200 and abducted around 250 Israeli hostages on October 7. Besides the ongoing war, Israel has been fighting on multiple fronts with Iran’s axis of resistance.

Fears of War Continue To Grow

Israeli troops, under the banner of the Northern Command, conducted a major training exercise on Wednesday. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu oversaw the training. In his first interview after the war broke out, Netanyahu recently said that the IDF has deployed troops in the north for defensive purposes. With the intense phase of the war in Rafah at the end, Israel can shift their focus to Hezbollah.

Over the past few months, fears have grown in Israel as Hezbollah continues to violate the UN-drawn blue line on the border. There have also been border attacks by Hezbollah.

Israeli officials recently said that the plans have been signed off for a ground offensive in Lebanon to drive Hezbollah back from the border. As a result, Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, issued more severe threats to Israel than he had made in the past. Counties including the US, Germany, and Canada urged their citizens to leave Lebanon immediately.

Hezbollah started attacking Israel after the Israel-Hamas war broke out in October 2023. Since then, Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire almost daily for the last eight to nine months. Israel has killed more than 400 Hezbollah terrorists, and Hezbollah has killed 19 soldiers and 11 civilians.

Israel Seeking Diplomatic Solutions

Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, met with US Secretary of Defense Llyod Austin on a Washington trip

Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant, visited Washington on Sunday and met with top officers. In the meeting, Gallant insisted that Israel doesn’t want a war, but his government prefers a diplomatic solution on the Israel-Lebanon border. The defense minister wrapped up his trip to Washington on Wednesday.

Diplomatic efforts are desperately needed to de-escalate the escalating situation of an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah. Diplomatic efforts led by the US and France are still underway for a peaceful solution. The defense minister said on Wednesday that Israel is seeking a diplomatic solution to the war-like situation with Hezbollah.
