On Sunday, US President Joe Biden decided to quit the 2024 presidential race. This decision was expected, but no one knew it would happen. On Friday, the president insisted he was all-in for the presidential election. But by Sunday, he was out. A lot can happen in 48 hours, right? On X, the president announced that he was stepping down from the presidential race.

After Biden’s disastrous first presidential debate with Donald Trump, the calls grew for the president to step down from the presidential race. The debate had sent a huge panic wave among the Democrats. Joe Biden’s party members called on him to quit the presidential race.

Joe Biden Quits The Race Suddenly

Biden faced a relentlessly growing number of closest allies and party members turning against him. On Friday, the handle of President Biden posted a tweet on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The tweet said that the president is suffering from Covid, and will be in isolation as he recovers. While another X handle of Biden tweeted “I’m Sick.”

Even though the president said he was sick with Covid, he was firm on being on the 2024 US presidential race. On MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Biden’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon said, “He’s (Biden) not going anywhere.” Later on Morning Joe, Biden’s statement intended to silence the doubters popped up. In the statement, he said, “I look forward to getting back on the campaign trial next week.”

This was not enough to silence the doubters calling him to quit. Influentel Democrats figures like Senator Sherrod Brown and Nancy Pelosi openly called the president to quit. Leaders pushing Biden to quit may have played a role in president’s decision to step down. Barack Obama was also the reason for Biden’s increasing troubles.

It’s hard to say when the president made the decision to step down, but it appears that Biden had at last come to the senses that he had no choice but to do what his fellow Democrats were saying. Biden finally repeated the words that Democrats have been telling him: “I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down.”

The President Endorses Kamala Harris

All the fellow Democrats must have had some relief as the president finally decided to step down. After stepping down from the 2024 presidential race, Biden endorsed Kamala Harris. On X, the president wrote, “Today, I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year.”

Kamala Harris is an American politician who is serving as the 49th vice president of the US since 2021. Kamala Haris is an African-American and Asian-American woman who is a member of the Democrat party. Before it was Joe Biden vs. Donald Trump. Now its Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump in the 2024 US presidential race.

Donald Trump Is Still Attacking Biden

Shortly after Biden announced he was stepping down from the presidential race, former President Donald Trump posted attacks on social media. On a special media platform, Trump wrote Ït’s not over! Tomorrow Crooked Joe Biden’s going to wake up and forget that he dropped out of the race today!”

Donal Trump posted on his social media site, Truth Social trolling Biden by writing: “It’s a new day and Joe Biden does;not remember quitting the race yesterday!” In another post, Trump said, “Does anybody really believe that Crooked Joe had Covid? No, he wanted to get over since June 27th, the night of the Debate, where he was completely obliterated. That was the big moment in Joe Biden’s demise.”
