As a reaction to the fatal strikes on Gaza and Lebanon, as well as the assassinations of prominent leaders of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran claims to have fired dozens of ballistic missiles toward important military and security sites in Israel.
Many of the missiles, according to Israel, were intercepted. Israeli leaders promise to respond, but Iran threatens to punish Israel with “crushing” strikes if it does. Hezbollah denied that Israeli troops had infiltrated southern Lebanon for a “limited” raid, despite Israel’s earlier claims to the contrary.
At least 29 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers as they have continued to conduct strikes throughout the Gaza Strip.
In Gaza, at least 41,638 people have been killed and 96,460 injured in Israeli attacks since October. In Israel, at least 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks on October 7 and more than 200 people were taken captive.
Iran has launched a volley of ballistic missiles towards Israel, claiming that the strikes are a reaction to the recent assassinations of leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hezbollah, and Hamas. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Tehran that it “made a big mistake” and “will pay for it,” and Israel has vowed to retaliate.
The administration of US President Joe Biden has vowed to protect Israel without hesitation and threatened to take “serious consequences” against Iran for attacking the country’s most important friend. At least eight people were killed in a hit in Gaza City by the Israeli military, which has been attacking the Gaza Strip.
At least seven individuals were killed in a shooting incident in Jaffa shortly before the Iranian missiles struck Israel. We now learn that Israeli forces attacked Hebron, in the southern occupied West Bank, and searched Palestinian homes, accusing them of being involved in an attack that resulted in 15 injuries.
Israeli soldiers started questioning family and searched two homes. They also proclaimed Hebron a restricted military zone and blocked all access and departures.
Former PM claims Israel has a chance to “change the face of the Middle East” and urges an assault on Iran. “Israel has now its greatest opportunity in 50 years, to change the face of the Middle East,” stated Naftali Bennett in response to Iran’s attack.
“This evening, the Iranian leadership—which was formerly quite skilled at chess—made a grave error. The former prime minister said on social media, “We must act *now* to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, its central energy facilities, and to fatally cripple this terrorist regime.”
The Israeli military claims to have intercepted “a large number” of Iran’s ballistic missile launches, and it also notes that the US helped defend Israel. The Iranian army’s general staff has vowed to take direct military action against the United States and Israel should they initiate strikes on Iranian territory.
Fresh evacuation orders have been issued by the Israeli military in the southern suburbs of Beirut following its Tuesday attacks that claimed the lives of 55 people in Lebanon. Israeli strikes in Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp have left three people dead and eight injured, according to the Wafa news agency.
