As tensions with Israel rise, Hezbollah retaliates 18 September 2024, Beirut, Lebanon September 18, 2024, saw a wave of explosions hit southern Lebanon, signaling a significant escalation of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel. The explosions claimed the lives of at least 12 people and injured close to 3,000 more.

They were purportedly caused by Hezbollah operatives using hacked communication devices including pagers and walkie-talkies.Lebanese officials claim that in what appears to be a sophisticated act of sabotage, these explosive devices had been covertly fitted with bombs, perhaps during construction. Intelligence reports suggest that the attack was most likely carried out by Israel’s Mossad.

When the devices exploded at the same time, it caused widespread fear and destruction in several areas under Hezbollah’s control.Conversely, Israel has forewarned Hezbollah that more provocations may spark a full-scale battle. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are worried that Hezbollah’s activities are putting both countries in jeopardy of starting a larger regional conflict.

Despite these advancements, Israel and Lebanon’s border tensions are still high, and both countries are strengthening their military postur
