WhatsApp is implementing the well-known, bouncing “three dots” signal, which will appear for users when someone on the other end of the chat starts typing. The new “Typing Indicators” are now available to all Android and iOS users worldwide.

In a group or 1:1 chat, users will now get a visual ‘ prompt at the bottom of the screen, along with their profile picture, to indicate active participation, according to a statement from the messaging platform on Thursday, December 5.

The three dots indicator, which aims to increase real-time engagement among WhatsApp users, will appear in both group and individual chats on the site. It appears to be activated by default for all users, although it is unclear whether the indicator may be disabled. For many years, Apple’s iMessage has featured a typing bubble indicator. While some people enjoy it, others find such indicators bothersome because they prefer that their typing status not be visible in every chat.

India is WhatsApp’s largest market, with more than 500 million monthly active users (MAUs). The company has maintained its position as one of the most popular apps in the country by constantly adding new features for users, making the platform more adaptable and feature-rich.

According to recent rumors, WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to view and join channels on the network by scanning QR codes. Last month, the Meta-owned platform unveiled a ‘Drafts Indicator’ that allows users to easily identify and complete incomplete communications.
