Nikon recently unveiled the Z50II, the latest addition to their mirrorless lineup. The Z50II, which starts at Rs 77,995 (body only) and goes up to Rs 1,15,795 with lens kits, has features previously only found on higher-end models.
“At Nikon, we are committed to inventing and delivering advanced imaging solutions that meet our customers’ ever-changing needs,” said Sajjan Kumar, Managing Director of Nikon India Pvt. Ltd. Nikon’s announcement underlines its goal to attract not only to traditional photographers, but also to a growing community of video artists who need speedy, high-quality results.
The EXPEED 7 processor from Nikon’s flagship Z9 powers the Z50II’s video capabilities, allowing it to capture 4K footage with exceptional quality thanks to 5.6K oversampling. This degree of resolution, paired with support for N-Log video and RED LUTs, allows artists to achieve sophisticated color grading for professional-quality video output. Additionally, the camera’s AI-driven portrait upgrades make post-production easier, making it ideal for video makers with tight deadlines.
A noteworthy feature for video makers is the new “Product Review Mode.” This setting keeps the attention on front objects, which is very useful for product reviewers and vloggers. Furthermore, with a video self-timer and USB streaming capability, the Z50II is designed to meet a wide range of creative needs, from live streaming to product demos.
The Z50II includes a nine-type subject detection system, which was formerly reserved for Nikon’s top models and provides dependable autofocus across a wide range of settings. Coupled with Nikon’s Pre-Release Capture mode, which buffers photographs before the shutter is fully pressed, the camera excels at capturing split-second moments, making it a vital feature for event photographers and action fans alike.
The Z50II’s autofocus also adapts easily to unforeseen subjects such as pets or youngsters, capturing clear shots even in dynamic surroundings. It is an improvement that offers professional-level performance to a larger audience. The Z50II has a high-luminance electronic viewfinder (EVF) with a brightness of 1,000 cd/m², making it twice as bright as its predecessor. This brilliant EVF allows photographers to arrange photos with minimal eye strain and offers
Furthermore, the Z50II includes Imaging Recipes and Picture Control through the Nikon Imaging Cloud, allowing users to personalize color and contrast settings as well as access presets developed by top professionals.
The Z50II’s wide ISO range (100-51200) and built-in flash allow for greater adaptability in a variety of lighting settings. For night scenes or backlit environments, the camera reduces noise while maintaining detail and texture. Furthermore, the Hi-Res Zoom feature allows users to zoom digitally while video recording without sacrificing quality, which is particularly handy for videographers working with prime lenses. The Nikon Z50II and its attachments, such as the MC-DC3 Remote Cord for tripod shooting, will be available in India beginning in late November 2024.
