GSC Game World, this Ukraine-based computer studio known for its STALKER series games, has finally released STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the most recent installment in the iconic action-horror genre. While the business had planned to debut the game in 2022, work was halted as creators battled on the front lines after Russia invaded Ukraine.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, like its predecessor, is set in a fictionalized version of ‘The Zone’, the contaminated and cordoned-off territory surrounding Chornobyl. STALKER 2 is considered one of the best open-world action horror games to date, with hostile NPCs, several factions, zombies, anomalies, and some monstrous monsters lurking in broad daylight and at night.
The character enters The Zone in pursuit of an important piece of technology. Unlike most open-world shooting games, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl expands on current gameplay components, making navigation, combat, and resource management extremely difficult to manage in the first few hours.
Furthermore, unlike most games, where the day-night cycle just impacts visibility, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl compels players to change their gameplay style. However, since its release, the gameplay has been hampered by a variety of flaws and glitches that are both aggravating and non-game-breaking.
According to The Verge, the gunplay is responsive and accurate, however certain human NPCs frequently look in the other direction of the threat. However, GSC Game World has already promised a number of bug fixes.
