Snapdragon 8 Elite will be coming to smartphones

Qualcomm has introduced its latest mobile CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which will power premium handsets from major brands. Qualcomm has chosen the ‘Elite’ moniker for what was previously thought to be known as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. This new chipset includes Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU architecture, which was previously used in the Snapdragon X Elite chipset for laptops.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite is built on TSMC’s 3nm technology and has remarkable performance specifications. It has a prime core clocked at 4.32 GHz and performance cores clocked at 3.53 GHz, making it the fastest mobile chipset available, exceeding the highest speed of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, which is 3.63 GHz.

Qualcomm claims that CPU performance and power efficiency have increased by 44 percent, while power consumption has decreased by 27 percent. The AI capabilities have been improved, with the Hexagon NPU now running 45 percent faster. The Adreno GPU improves performance by 40% and supports Unreal Engine 5.3 for powerful mobile gaming graphics. The chipset also contains AI-powered camera features such as Limitless Segmentation, which may improve facial expressions, hair, and clothing while removing undesired elements from movies.

While particular phone models have not been announced, Qualcomm has confirmed that several major companies will deliver Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered devices in the coming weeks. These brands include:

ASUS Honor iQOO

OnePlus OPPO Realme

Samsung

Vivo and Xiaomi

This signals widespread adoption across major Android flagships, with the first devices set to hit the market shortly. The majority of the smartphone model names remain unknown. The following smartphones have been verified to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite:

Devices include OnePlus 13, Realme GT 7 Pro, Xiaomi 15 series, iQOO 13, and Asus ROG Phone 9. The Snapdragon 8 Elite’s key specs include a Qualcomm Oryon CPU with a prime core up to 4.32 GHz and performance cores at 3.53 GHz, an Adreno GPU with a 40% speed jump, support for up to 48MP triple cameras with zero shutter latency, up to 320MP images,
