Krafton, the developer of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has announced CookieRun India, a new casual 2D running game. This is the gaming giant’s first casual smartphone game in India, developed in conjunction with DevSisters. It caters to all demographics and age groups.
Unlike other Krafton games, which frequently require strategy and planning, CookieRun India features simple controls with only two on-screen buttons that allow you to control the character in the game.
“We’ve invested more than $170 million in the country, helping innovative start-ups, developing talent, and creating a dynamic gaming ecosystem. By expanding into the casual gaming category, we hope to reach a larger audience and introduce more people to the amazing world of gaming,” stated Minu Lee, Krafton India’s head of Publishing. “”
When indianexpress.com asked Lee how CookieRun India differs from other casual 2D running games like Jetpack Joyride, he said that the game’s social element, which allows you to compete against your friends on the leaderboard, combined with India-centric characters and events makes it much more enjoyable.
“As an extension of our ongoing commitment to generating games from the country of India, they are pleased to release three or four additional new titles in India, giving different and memorable experiences peculiar to the location. Cookie Run India exemplifies our desire to transform the casual gaming sector by providing a game that is enjoyable, inclusive, and specifically designed for Indian gamers,” Lee added.
What is CookieRun India about?
CookieRun India is a 2D running game that just has two on-screen buttons: leap and slide. Players can also choose from a variety of characters known as ‘cookies’, each with their own set of talents and abilities.
While the in-game character moves automatically, players must gather cash, power-ups, and lives by jumping or sliding over obstacles. The gameplay may resemble JetPack Joyride at first appearance, but Krafton’s social competitive aspect provides it an advantage.
Krafton announced at launch that the game would have 20 characters, including two India-specific cookies called ‘Gulab Jamun’ and ‘Kaju Katli’. During the demo, a Krafton representative stated that each character can be partnered with a pet to join cookies on their never-ending journey.
