Instagram is celebrating Halloween with a new set of seasonal features that includes whimsical effects, animations, and themed themes for Stories, DMs, and Reels. These Halloween “Easter eggs” will be available until November 3rd, giving consumers extra excitement with their interactions.

Halloween Surprises in Direct Messages and Notes

Instagram’s Halloween improvements begin with secret, themed phrases in DMs and Notes. Statements like “joyful Halloween” and “Trick-or-treat” and special Harvest-related emojis like 🎃, 👻, and 🕸️ will display animations, such as bats descending across the screen.

Instagram Stories now features five Halloween-themed “Add Yours” layouts, allowing users to inspire friends and followers to post festive photographs and complete related quizzes. These templates are available in the “Happy Halloween” area of the newly updated Add Yours Templates Discovery Surface in Stories, allowing users to easily join Halloween trends.

AI-powered Costumes and Festive Fonts

Instagram has introduced Meta AI into Stories with a feature called “Imagine Yourself as 🧛,” which allows users to see themselves as Halloween symbols like vampires. Users can create AI outfits, share them, and invite friends to join in the fun. 

Instagram has launched a Halloween-inspired font called “Halloween” and a “Haunted” text effect that can be used across Stories, Feed, and Reels to create a spooky aesthetic. There’s also a Halloween chat theme to offer DMs and broadcast channels a creepy feel.
