IndiGo has announced a partnership with Spotify to launch the “6E Shuffle” feature, which will provide travelers with personalized music based on their location. This collaboration aims to enhance the trip experience by creatively combining music and travel, appealing to travelers who rely on music to accompany them on their journeys.
With “6E Shuffle,” IndiGo customers will have access to tracks that are tailored to their itinerary and musical preferences. The tool contains music playlists created specifically for popular travel routes and locations. Travelers can find these playlists on IndiGo’s dedicated homepage, which is linked to Spotify for easy listening.
IndiGo’s partnership with Spotify also includes a free four-month Spotify Premium subscription for clients who book directly with the airline, allowing them to listen without ads and offline. According to Spotify data, interest in travel-themed playlists is rapidly expanding in India, especially among younger viewers. According to the streaming service, travel-related terms like ‘road trip’ and ‘driving’ appear in over 22 lakh user searches every month, indicating a need for music that enhances travel experiences. This pattern is mostly driven by Generation Z listeners, with searches peaking in the mid-afternoon and April each year.
By capitalizing on this need, IndiGo and Spotify hope to meet travelers where they are: absorbed in music. Neha Ahuja, Spotify India’s Director of Marketing, stated that “music is increasingly becoming a part of the travel experience, whether it’s for relaxation or setting the mood on the go.” This collaboration offers that experience to IndiGo passengers in a novel and meaningful way.”
IndiGo and Spotify have enlisted I-Pop artist Armaan Malik to promote the feature, and he will appear in the service’s video advertisement. The advertisement, titled “Tune in and take off,” stresses music as an integral aspect of the flying experience and urges passengers to create memories with a soundtrack tailored to each trip
According to Neetan Chopra, Indigo’s Chief Digital and Information Officer, music is an important part of the travel experience. “With 6E Shuffle, we’re giving passengers a way to personalize their journey through music.”
IndiGo’s decision to incorporate music into its services aligns with a larger trend in the airline industry, which is increasingly focused on improving the passenger experience through digital offerings. IndiGo’s relationship with Spotify introduces a new layer to its in-flight products, aiming to attract customers who value entertainment as part of their experience. 6E Shuffle can be accessible through IndiGo’s webpage.
