Blinkit has launched a feature that allows companies to enter their GSTIN (Goods and Services Tax Identification Number) when purchasing items from the marketplace. According to CEO Albinder Dhindsa, this change is in response to client demand, particularly from firms making large purchases such as electronics. With the introduction of GST invoicing, firms may now claim up to 28% GST input credit on their purchases.
The new capability allows users to submit their GSTIN directly into the Blinkit app and receive GST-compliant invoices. This is especially useful for businesses looking to reduce overall costs by collecting GST input credits. For example, if a company buys items that come inside the 28% GST category, it can claim that percentage.
During checkout, customers can provide their GSTIN to produce a GST-compliant invoice for the transaction. The invoice displays the GST input credit that the client can claim, which can be as high as 28% depending on the product category.
For many organizations, the ability to claim GST input credit is crucial when making large purchases. This upgrade makes Blinkit more appealing to business purchasers, particularly for products with higher GST rates.
