Following a September filled with the new iPhone 16 series updated Apple Watches, and the fourth generation of AirPods, Apple appears to be preparing to announce a new wave of devices in October. The computer behemoth is rumored to be planning improvements to its Mac and iPad lines, including new CPUs, potential design tweaks, and a few surprise features. With details yet unknown, Apple might reveal these devices at a traditional event or via a series of early morning news leaks.

MacBook Pro Upgrades Are Expected

Following last year’s October updates, when Apple offered new processor possibilities for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, this year may see another chip boost, most likely to the M4 generation.

A New Look for the Mac Mini.

The Mac Mini may see its first major overhaul in almost a decade, with rumors pointing to a smaller, more streamlined version lacking USB-A connectors. The forthcoming model, which is believed to use M4 and M4 Pro CPUs, could be roughly the size of an Apple TV box, adding a new look to Apple’s mini desktop selection. However, fewer ports may limit connectivity possibilities, particularly for creatives who frequently use various peripherals.

The iMac and Its Accessories Join the USB-C Club.

After remaining virtually untouched since 2021, Apple’s colorful iMac could receive an M4 chip upgrade, as well as new versions of the Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard. These accessories are expected to transition from Lightning to USB-C connectors.

The iPad Mini’s Long-awaited Refresh

The iPad Mini, Apple’s smallest tablet, has not received an update since 2021, when it was outfitted with the A15 Bionic CPU. The new model is expected to receive a big performance bump, presumably from an M-series processor, however, it is unknown if it will get the most recent M4 or an older chip like the M2. Apple fans are also awaiting a revamp of the entry-level 10.9-inch iPad, which might be released this month or in early 2025.
