Apple Intelligence brings incredible new features across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The first set of features is available today, with many more rolling out in the coming months.

Apple Intelligence, a personal AI system included in iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, is available as of today. This new feature set takes advantage of Apple hardware to deliver smarter language processing, powerful search, and even image-generating capabilities to iPads, iPhones, and Macs, claiming to simplify everyday chores while protecting user privacy.

Using Apple Intelligence to revolutionize user experience

Apple Intelligence brings together years of AI research to provide tools that aim to improve daily interactions across Apple products. “Apple Intelligence introduces an entirely new age for the iPod touch, iPad, and Mac, delivering entirely novel functions and tools maintaining will transform what our users can accomplish,” Apple CEO Tim Cook stated, emphasizing that privacy continues at the heart of the experience.

The initial release, available globally for U.S. English settings, includes Writing Tools, a smarter Siri, and improved Photos app search, all of which are powered by M-series CPUs.

Systemwide Writing Tools: Refine, Rewrite, and Summarize. Apple Intelligence’s Writing Tools allow users to rewrite, proofread, and summarise content seamlessly across apps such as Mail, Messages, Notes, and Pages. Users can pick text and choose between professional and friendly tones, as well as request summaries in a variety of formats such as bulleted lists or tables. This feature goes beyond grammar checks, offering context-specific changes to make written communication more versatile and efficient.

Siri’s Conversational Upgrade

Siri has a new design and can now move between text and voice, making it more natural and responsive. Siri has been updated to handle complicated requests more easily, providing richer, context-aware responses on settings, features, and app interactions across all Apple products. Siri can now keep context between requests and recognize nuances, making multitasking easier on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Smarter Photo App and Search Functionality

Apple Intelligence has made the Photos app smarter than ever, with natural language search and improved organization. Users can search for instances using particular descriptors, such as “Maya skateboarding in a tie-dye shirt,” and navigate directly to specific situations inside films. Additionally, the Clean Up tool enables users to remove undesired objects from photos.

Privacy is at the heart of AI innovation

Apple has incorporated privacy precautions into Apple Intelligence from the ground up, including on-device processing for most jobs and Private Cloud computing for more complicated AI operations to ensure data security. ChatGPT integration in Siri and Writing Tools is optional, with anonymized data and strict privacy settings. “An extraordinary step forward for privacy in AI,” stated Craig Federighi, Apple’s SVP of Software Engineering, highlighting the company’s dedication to user data protection.

Future Apple Intelligence Capabilities.

New Apple Intelligence features are set to launch in December, including bespoke emoji creation via Genmoji, an AI-powered Image Playground, and other Siri advancements. As Apple Intelligence develops its language support, localized English options are expected for places like the United Kingdom and Australia, with more languages.
