Apple’s latest iOS 18.2 beta contains a highly awaited feature for iPhone 16 users: the ability to lock focus and exposure using the Camera Control function. This tweak, which is part of iOS 18.2 beta 2 and was released to developers on Monday, enhances the photographic experience on Apple’s most recent models.
New Camera Control Features:
The focus and exposure lock feature, previewed during the iPhone 16 launch in September but not included in the initial release, is now available. To use this new feature, users simply enable it in the Camera app’s settings. When activated, they can gently press and hold the Camera Control to lock the focus and exposure settings, which will remain until their finger is released.
This feature has been highly anticipated since Apple hinted at its capabilities during the iPhone 16 unveiling. Apple initially said that this modification would be included in a future software update, which has since been confirmed as part of iOS 18.2.
More additions in iOS 18.2.
Apple began testing iOS 18.2 before iOS 18.1 was officially released, demonstrating the significance of this significant update. In addition to the new Camera Control capabilities, iOS 18.2 offers many Apple Intelligence-related innovations. This includes:
• Genmoji: Custom emoji generation.
• Image Playground: Tools for creating distinctive visuals.
• ChatGPT Integration: Enhancements that combine OpenAI’s conversational capabilities with the Apple environment.
• Visual Intelligence: A function available only on iPhone 16 models.
Additionally, the update makes it easier to manage default apps and expands Apple Intelligence’s availability to other locations.
Availability
iOS 18.2 is scheduled for general release in December, however, it is now available to developers in beta. This guarantees that developers have an early look at the new capabilities and may plan their projects accordingly.
