Amazon Auto launches in the US

Beginning today, Amazon customers in the United States of America can purchase brand-new Hyundai vehicles through the e-commerce platform. Amazon stated that their automobile dealership product, Amazon Auto, in collaboration with South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motors, is now available in over 48 American locations, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New York, San Francisco, California, Seattle, and Washington, DC.

Amazon customers in these cities can buy vehicles advertised for sale by local car dealers directly through the platform. The business stated that it plans to expand Amazon Auto to other regions by 2025.

Potential automobile buyers can search for cars on Amazon Auto based on make, model, trim, color, and other specifications. The business stated that buyers will see “transparent, upfront pricing” for all vehicles.

Buyers can also trade in their present vehicle for a new one based on an evaluation produced by an “independent third party.” They can also set up pickup times at their local vehicle dealership. In terms of financing choices, Amazon Auto notes that the local dealership will handle them for the time being, with Amazon acting as a mediator.

Currently, the car-selling service is limited to new vehicles. It is unknown whether Amazon intends to expand its offering to include used cars as well.

Partnership between Amazon and Hyundai

Amazon and Hyundai car dealers’ relationship, which was first announced in 2023, benefits both parties. Hyundai car dealerships can access a wider spectrum of customers via Amazon, eliminating the need to create their platform. On the other side, the partnership enables Amazon to make large-ticket sales while entering a new lucrative market niche without having to deal with the headaches of inventory storage and logistics associated with transporting cars.
