The highly anticipated match between boxing icon Mike Tyson and popular YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul finished with the latter claiming victory. Paul rose to the occasion, defeating the 58-year-old over eight rounds at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Mike Tyson’s reflexes were slow, therefore Paul outperformed him. A few hours before this spectacular battle, supporters were caught aback when a bogus script of the match appeared on social media.
The viral screenplay predicted that Paul would knock out Tyson in the fifth round. However, the audience witnessed an exciting battle between the two, which culminated in the eighth round with Paul winning 79-73 by unanimous decision.
Paul, 27, used his superior speed and mobility to easily dominate Tyson, and the former undisputed heavyweight champion was in trouble after landing a flurry of blows in the third round.
Tyson, on the other hand, appeared to be 58 years old, landing only a handful of meaningful punches throughout the bout. Tyson connected with only 18 of 97 punches thrown, while Paul hit 78 of 278 punches. As the closing seconds of the eighth round ticked away, Paul could afford to bow in respect to Tyson before the bell rang.
A significant talking point ahead of the battle was how much money the boxers would earn from the fight. According to some accounts, the total prize money for the match was 60 million dollars. According to Forbes, Jake Paul will receive $40 million (about Rs 338 crore), while Mike Tyson will receive $20 million (around Rs 169 crore).
