The Indian cricket team is preparing for its first Twenty20 International against Bangladesh on Sunday in Gwalior. In preparation, players were observed sweating during a fielding practice led by T. Dilip and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. On Friday, a video was shared on the official BCCI X feed showing the team’s training session. “Gearing up for Gwalior with dazzling rhythm and full flow. Team India improves their fielding abilities ahead of the India against Bangladesh T20I series opener.”
Fielding has improved significantly under T. Dilip, who instituted the Best Fielder Award during World Cup matches. In the video, Dilip is seen training the Indian players and emphasizing the significance of technique. “Just get your feet where you’re throwing. I am not concerned with intensity, but rhythm and flow are what we must attain today. “Once we get into that, we’ll move and take 15 catches,” he explained.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya and spinner Varun Chakravarthy were spotted working hard during the exercises. Gautam Gambhir, the team’s head coach, kept a tight eye on the players during fielding practice. India skipper Suryakumar Yadav, opener Abhishek Sharma, and bowler Ravi Bishnoi were also spotted making some spectacular catches.
Following the Test series, India and Bangladesh will face off in a three-match Twenty20 International series. Suryakumar Yadav, a right-handed batsman, will continue to lead the Men in Blue in the game’s shortest format. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been named wicketkeeper-batters for the team.
Abhishek Sharma, a young left-handed opener, returned to the squad after missing out on the Sri Lanka T20Is. He will be accompanied by Riyan Parag and Nitish Kumar Reddy. The roster includes Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, and Shivam Dube as all-rounders.
The team’s spinners are Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakaravarthy, while Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Mayank Yadav have been introduced as seamers. The series will begin with the opening match on October 6 in Gwalior, followed by the second and third matches on October 9 (Delhi) and October 12 (Hyderabad).
Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav are the Indian T20I team for the Bangladesh series.
