Sanju Samson in action for India against South Africa

Indian Cricket Team Sanju Samson, a wicketkeeper, became the first player in history to hit three T20I hundreds in a calendar year with his spectacular innings against South Africa on Friday. In the fourth T20I, the India opener looked in excellent form, smashing 109 runs off 56 balls, including 6 fours and 9 sixes. Samson began the four-match series with a stunning century, but he was dismissed for a duck in the following two games. However, this had no effect on his form, as he appeared to be in total control against the South African bowlers on Friday, with his superb performance taking India to 283/1.

Tilak Varma’s muscular grace matched Anju Samson’s precision as India dominated the South African bowling attack in the fourth and final T20 International, posting an impressive 283 for 1. This is by far India’s biggest T20I total overseas, as well as the highest by any country on South African territory.

Among the numerous records that fell, the most memorable will be two Indian batsmen recording hundreds in the same T20I innings. Samson and Varma also had the greatest stand for India in T20 Internationals, scoring 210 off just 93 balls for the second wicket.

Samson (109 not out off 56 balls), who hammered a brilliant century in the first game, once again pummelled the Proteas, along with Varma (120 not out off 47 balls).

Who has really come into his own at number three, with newfound confidence and verve. Samson now has three T20I tons in his past five knocks, including two ducks, while Varma has scored back-to-back T20I tons. Samson scored a ton in 51 balls, while Varma took 41 balls. Abhishek Sharma (36 off 18 balls) deserves credit for upped the ante in the Powerplay with four big sixes.

On a solid hitting surface with real bounce, Indian batters smashed a record 23 sixes, since it was possible to hit through the line by just clearing one’s front leg. Samson’s nine maximums were one less than Varma’s 10.
