It appears that Sanju Samson is attempting to fool once more. After scoring back-to-back hundreds in two consecutive T20Is, the wicketkeeper-batsman has now registered two ducks. Sanju Samson has rarely received a steady run in the national squad, but when he struck tons against Bangladesh and then South Africa (in the first T20I), everyone believed he was finally living up to his enormous talent. However, Samson has now scored back-to-back ducks.
Sanju Samson has five ducks in 2024. He is now only the second hitter from an ICC Full Member to record five ducks in a calendar year, following Zimbabwe’s Regis Chakabva in 2022. Samson is the first player in history to score two straight ducks after scoring.
Regarding India’s innings in the third T20I, Tilak Varma’s stunning performance helped India reach 219/6 against South Africa in Centurion on Wednesday. India finished their first inning on 219/6, with Tilak scoring his first century in the 20-over format.
The Proteas won the toss and put India to bat; however, Aiden Markram’s choice did not go their way, as they failed to break partnerships. South Africa got off to a flying start in Centurion, as seamer Marco Jansen dismissed India opener Sanju Samson with the second ball of the game.
Following their initial dismissal, Abhishek Sharma, on the other hand, (50 runs from 25 balls, 3 fours, and 5 sixes) and He Varma (107 values from 49 balls, 8 fours, and 7 sixes) formed a 107-run partnership, allowing the Men in Blue to add some critical runs to the board. Abhishek hit fifty from 24 balls in the ninth over, but Keshav Maharaj dismissed the Indian hitter with the next ball.
Andile Simelane took the third wicket of the innings in the tenth over, dismissing Suryakumar Yadav for one run off four balls. Suryakumar failed to provide a captain’s knock in the opening inning. Top India all-rounder Hardik Pandya (eighteen runs from 16 balls, 3 fours) was unable to deliver a standout effort. Maharaj removed Hardik in the thirteenth over.
After four dismissals, Tilak and Rinku Singh combined for 58 runs to help India reach a respectable total in the game. Rinku’s innings ended in the 18th ver when Simelane dismissed him for eight runs off 13 balls. Ramandeep-Tilak helped India surpass the 200-run partnership.e.
