The devastating news of renowned industrialist Ratan Tata’s death devastated India. On Wednesday night, the 86-year-old chairman of the Tata Group passed away. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Wednesday night that the last rites will be performed with full state honors. Tata’s mortal remains will be held on the lawns of south Mumbai’s National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., allowing the people to pay their respects, he said.
As millions of Indians mourned, famed Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was among the first to pay his final respects to Ratan Tata at the Tata residence. Sachin took to Instagram to pay respect to the great businessman, praising him for his love of animals. I was lucky to spend time with him, but millions who have never known him experience the same anguish that I do today. “This is his impact,” Sachin posted on Instagram.
“From his love of animals to philanthropy, he demonstrated that true development can only be made when we care for those who lack the resources to care for themselves. Rest in peace, Mr. Tata. “Your legacy will live on through the institutions you built and the values you upheld,” he continued.
Aside from Sachin, India captain Rohit Sharma sent a meaningful message to Ratan Tata on X (previously Twitter).
“He has a golden heart. Sir, you will be remembered as someone who genuinely cared and lived his life to improve the lives of others,” Rohit wrote.
Ratan Tata, one of India’s most recognized and beloved businesspeople, propelled the Tata Group to new heights and influenced the nation’s fabric through his efforts in a variety of fields, including philanthropy.
