India vs Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma
India vs Bangladesh: Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma feels he has played enough cricket to trust his own decision, as he did in what will be viewed as a possibly grammar-changing Test match against Bangladesh, which India won by seven wickets despite losing more than 220 overs due to severe weather conditions. Following a full washout on days two and three, the Indian side scored at an astonishing eight runs per over, putting them in a good position with only 173.2 overs remaining. “I’ve been out there enough to trust my judgment on what I do,” Rohit said BCCI.TV following India’s 2-0 victory against Bangladesh.

Rohit stated that, while he is open to opinions, the final decision is his, and he trusts his gut instincts. There are players around me who are willing to provide advice, but at the end of the day, I trust my thoughts and my judgment, which is all that matters when you’re playing,” the ‘Hit Man’ stated. He understands that not every instinctual call will always be successful, but it does need expertise and knowledge of the issue.

At the greatest level, you must have a bit of everything. You must remain calm to make intelligent judgments; you must make many decisions, and not every decision will go your way; nonetheless, you must back it up with your experience and knowledge, which is what I do,” he stated.

Would have been criticized if it went the other way.

Rohit is confident that if India’s aggressive strategy had failed, his squad would have faced criticism. “We have to take chances to gain a result. I realize the outcome might have gone the other way, but I was fine with it, as were the coach and the other players.

At the highest level, you must have some of everything. You must remain cool to make good decisions; you must make many decisions, and not all of them will be successful; but, you must back them up with your experience and knowledge, like I do,” he remarked.

It would have been criticized if things had turned out differently.

Rohit believes that if India’s aggressive plan had failed, his team would have received criticism. “To achieve success, we must take risks. I was satisfied with the outcome, as were the coach and the other players, even if it may have turned out otherwise.

Rohit was happy with the team’s fielding performance, as they caught 23 of the 24 balls that came their way. and they were standing much further ahead than they generally do. The catches are difficult to take since response time is short,” he stated.  (T) Dilip (fielding coach) is assisting the players with some critical catches, which are turning the game around,” he stated.
