The Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB ) is expected to write a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC), following the announcement that the Board of Control for Cricket in the Country (BCCI) officially refused to allow the Indian cricket team to travel to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. According to reports, Pakistan has engaged in legal counsel on the topic, and the PCB will now seek clarification from the ICC about India’s unwillingness to come to Pakistan. Government authorities have also reportedly informed the PCB on the matter.

According to CricketPakistan, the PCB conducted legal consultations in response to the Pakistan federal government’s policy directives involving India. The PCB plans to employ this legal consulting feedback.

The article also adds that the Pakistani government has directed the PCB to contact other cricket boards in this matter and that a match of this magnitude cannot be played outside of Pakistan due to the weightage carried by both countries.

The Pakistani government has also reportedly advised the PCB to stress its positive conduct and attitude when presenting a case. The government has also hinted that India has no moral or legal reason to avoid going to Pakistan.

It is worth noting that India has previously played events hosted by the nation of Pakistan in a neutral venue. Indeed, Pakistan hosted the 2023 Asia Cup, but India played all of their games in Sri Lanka, including the highly anticipated India-Pakistan match. On Sunday, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with key government officials to discuss plans after the ICC informed the PCB that India would not tour the country for next year’s Champions Trophy.
