Neeraj Chopra, India’s star javelin thrower, has revealed the truth about the javelin throw final at the Paris Paralympics 2024. The athlete did his full best, but it was insufficient to secure his second Olympic gold medal in a row, as Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the yellow metal with a record-breaking performance in the final. Nadeem threw an incredible 92.97m on his second try, setting the bar too high for the rest of the competition, including Chopra, who appeared under duress and only made one respectable throw, the silver-winning 89.45m in the second round.
In a recent conversation, Neeraj stated that Arshad’s big toss on his second try put pressure on him. “The initial throw has a significant influence on the athlete’s midsection. My initial toss was excellent, but I committed a foul. I was having some difficulty because the track was new. I attempted to adapt to avoid committing a foul, but I failed. The competition was fierce,” Neeraj remarked during the Mission Olympics 2036 program in Haryana.
Uske baad kya hua ki baar ham bolte hain, na ke josh ke sath hosh bhi rakhna chahiye. Toh dil shayad mera hosh nahi tha. Uss din mein Josh mein Tha. Bohot zyada gussa tha ki mujhe karna hai. Nedeem got a solid throw. And then I lost control of myself. I was upset because I wanted to perform better. But somewhere in there, I overlooked the technical part),” he continued.
