As his battle for the Formula One world title with Max Verstappen heats up, a feisty Lando Norris has said that he will “do what I think is right.” Speaking to reporters ahead of this Sunday’s Mexico Grand Prix, the McLaren driver maintained that he was unfairly handled during last weekend’s United States Grand Prix, where he was punished and demoted from third to fourth behind the three-time world champion.

His sole purpose was to defeat me, which he accomplished. He did well.

“He won, and I need to beat him. So, there are some minor things I can improve.

Verstappen extended his lead to 57 points over Norris, who was punished for racing off-track as he passed the Dutchman, with five races remaining.

He stated that the two have not communicated since last weekend’s altercation in Texas. “He did what he thought was right and I did what I thought was right,” she said. “As a squad, we continue to disagree with the penalty, as do the majority of those who saw it.

“So, I’ll make some modifications, whether I’ll be more aggressive or less aggressive. I’ll do what I believe is right. He explained that Verstappen was a master of aggressive defense, remaining ahead at the apex and then attacking.

“He went in too hard and was overtaken off the track; it’s a major talking point for everyone, and many other drivers and teams disagree. “But that’s what Max does, and he’s arguably the best at it in the world. I am still there, avoiding collisions. His motives are apparent, and he is in a more powerful position than me.” Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, who won the Texas race, agreed, saying Verstappen’s “being on the limit of the regulations” is what makes clashes with him “so exciting”.
