In the Dr (Capt) K Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament, popularly known as the KSCA Invitational, a pre-season meet for state teams, Arjun Tendulkar warmed up for the next first-class season with a match-winning nine-wicket haul in Goa’s innings and a 189-run triumph against hosts Karnataka.

With just two well-known names in the playing XI (gloveman Sharath Srinivas and Nikin Jose), the KSCA XI was primarily made up of players from their U-19 and U-23 teams.

The late Sachin Tendulkar’s son amassed a match total of 9 for 87 in 26.3 overs in two innings. In the first innings, Karnataka fell for 103 in 36.5 overs, with Tendulkar junior taking 5/41 in 13 overs.

Goa responded with a strong 413, led by 69 from Manthan Khutkar and a century from Abhinav Tejrana (109).

KSCA XI fared a little better in the second innings, being dismissed for 121 in 30.4 overs, with Arjun taking 4 for 46 in 13.3 overs.

Arjun, who turns 25 next week, has so far participated in 49 senior-level competitive games in three different formats and taken 68 wickets. He has claimed 21 wickets in 13 matches in the first class.
