Former England cricket team fast bowler Steven Finn praised Jasprit Bumrah for his match-winning performance against Australia in the first Test match in Perth. Bumrah, who also led India in the match, got eight wickets and was instrumental in securing the historic victory. The famous Indian bowler delivered a masterclass, making full use of the conditions and taking several key wickets. Finn heaped praise on him, even calling him the best player in the world.
“Jaiswal scored a fantastic 161. But Jasprit Bumrah is the player I enjoyed seeing the most and believe is the best player in the world right now. He’s simply a joke. Captain Alastair Cook.
During the analysis, Cook stated that he was startled by India’s strong performance against Australia in Perth, a place that has traditionally been a pleasant hunting ground for the hosts.
“I was astonished that India went there (Australia) and crushed them in what is often a difficult venue to play cricket. Perth, I know it’s not the WACA, and I know it’s a new stadium, but traditionally, Australia hasn’t lost many games there. I think India was incredibly bold.”
Jasprit Bumrah’s unconventional bowling movement and superb skill set give him a “complete package,” according to Australia’s leading batsman Steve Smith. Leading India in the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, Bumrah was named ‘Player of the Match’ after taking eight wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings, to propel the visitors to a 295-run victory in the first Test.
Smith told the Sydney Morning Herald that it has been awkward since the beginning of his run-up. I’ve faced him a fair number of times now, and it takes a few balls to get into the rhythm of things.” Smith was one of Bumrah’s victims during a catastrophic opening session in the first innings when the bowler ripped through the Australian top order.
