Jake Paul, an American YouTuber, outclassed famous boxer Mike Tyson on his return to competitive action after nearly two decades. Paul responded to the occasion, defeating the 59-year-old in an eight-round contest at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Paul dressed in never-before-seen boxing gear, which he described as the “most expensive in sporting history” for the event. According to the Problem Child, the diamonds in his boxing shorts, shoes, and jacket total 380 carats.
Surgeon, a Los Angeles-based firm, developed Paul’s costume, which is worth at roughly $1 million (Rs 8.4 crore). Paul’s silver blazer featured his name studded in pearls on the front, and diamond tennis chains tied to both of his shorts.
In addition, the gray jacket carried the logo of his new healthcare line, W by Jake Paul, which was also adorned with jewels. However, Paul is no stranger to the opulent lifestyle. Also, at the official weigh-in on Friday, he was seen wearing a Jacob and Co. watch worth $7 million (Rs 59 crore approximately).
The 27-year-old Cleveland native, who overcame experienced heavyweight superstar Mr. Tyson in an eight-round made-for-Netflix fight on Friday, has turned his internet celebrity status into a rich career in combat sports.
According to the Celebrity Net Worth website, Paul’s net worth is believed to be $80 million. He originally shot to notoriety in 2013, when he posted short-form videos on the now-defunct Vine platform, gaining millions of followers and billions of views.
He then took his talent for making viral material to YouTube in 2014, founding his channel known for controversy, practical jokes, and hip-hop. In 2015, he made his television debut, appearing in the Disney Channel’s teen sitcom “Bizaardvark.” That partnership ended in 2017, as the media focused on some of Paul’s YouTube pranks, including setting fire to furniture in an empty swimming pool at his Los Angeles luxury home.
Paul rose to prominence when he began competing in celebrity boxing, following in the footsteps of his elder brother Logan Paul, who battled English influencer KSI in a pay-per-view amateur contest in Manchester in 2018.
Though mocked by the traditional boxing world, Jake Paul’s fight on the undercard versus English influencer Deji Olatunji drew notice from the sport’s moneymen after selling approximately 1.3 million pay-per-view purchases. Before his battle with Tyson, Paul had a 7-1 professional record, with his only loss coming earlier this year to British fighter Tommy Fury.
