West Ham announced that forward Michail Antonio had surgery on a lower limb injury following a horrific automobile accident on Saturday. The 34-year-old was moved to a central London hospital, where he will be closely monitored.
“West Ham United confirmed that Michail Antonio has undergone surgery on the lower leg fracture during a road traffic accident on Saturday afternoon,” the club said in a statement. West Ham gave two updates on Antonio’s status on Saturday, stating that he was conscious and conversing after unsubstantiated photographs of a substantially wrecked Ferrari circulated online.
Essex Fire Service also stated that firemen responded to the scene and freed a guy stuck in his car. A lot of Premier League teams and players have expressed their support for Antonio.
“Every person at the League wishes Michail a speedy healing and wishes to express our deepest thanks to the football public at large for all of the kindness shown since the earlier news,” the statement that followed said.
The London-born Jamaica international joined West Ham in 2015 and has 83 goals in 323 appearances. He has one goal in 15 appearances for the Hammers this season, a 4-1 home win over Ipswich in early October.
