On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi penned a letter to Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra’s mother, Saroj Devi, praising her for making wonderful ‘chroma’ (a renowned Haryana and Rajasthan dish) for him. In January of this year, PM Modi asked Neeraj to bring him homemade ‘choorma’. In response to the Prime Minister’s request, Neeraj’s mother Saroj promised to prepare and deliver him a special ‘choorma’. PM Modi met with Neeraj on Tuesday during the Jamaican Prime Minister’s visit to India. During the meeting, PM Modi had the opportunity to sample the wonderful ‘choorma’. In his letter to Neeraj’s mother, PM Modi admitted that he became upset after eating the ‘chroma’ and couldn’t stop himself from writing to her.
Respected Saroj Devi Ji, Regards! I hope you’re healthy, safe, and happy. I met Neeraj yesterday at a banquet held in honor of Jamaica’s Prime Minister’s visit to India. My delight increased several times when he handed me exquisite chroma cooked by you. After having this chroma today, I couldn’t resist sending you a note. PM Modi’s letter to Neeraj’s mother stated, “Neeraj has often discussed this chroma with me, but today I felt emotional after eating it. “Mother embodies strength, compassion, and loyalty. It’s a coincidence that I received this prasad the day before Navratri began.
“Just like the meal you cooked gave Neeraj the energy to win medals for the country, this chroma will give me the power to serve the nation for the next 9 days. On this auspicious day of Navratri, I guarantee you and the ladies of our country that I will continue to strive with more commitment to make a developing India a reality. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart!” PM Modi added to his letter.
