Monaco has signed a six-year agreement extension for hosting the Formula One Grand Prix until 2031, organizers announced on Thursday. With the exception of the Covid-hit 2020 season, the principality has hosted a Grand Prix on its twisting streets every year since 1955. The streets of Monte Carlo are unique and an acknowledged part of Formula 1 while the Monaco Grand Prix remains a race for all drivers who dream of winning,” she said.
According to promoters, the Monaco Grand Prix, which has traditionally been held at the end of May alongside the Indianapolis 500, will be held in early June beginning in 2026. Monaco, one of the sport’s most recognized races, cannot claim to be the most entertaining for fans due to the narrow 3.3-kilometer (two-mile) street circuit, which allows for limited overtaking.
During this year’s race, the top ten from qualifying remained unchanged at the finish. Monegasque Leclerc, 31, won his home competition for the first time, a triumph he had not achieved since his elite debut in 2018.
Michel Boeri, General of the Racing Club of Monaco, added: “The signing of the current agreement with the Formula One Corporation until 2031 not only reinforces the strength of our relationship but also reaffirms our commitment to provide all guests with an unrivaled, first-class experience on race weekends.
“The Monaco GP is the most prominent athletic occasion here and continues to bring many spectators in the Province and millions of foreign television viewers worldwide.” The 2025 edition will take place from May 23 to 25, commemorating the 75th year of its official F1 début.
