Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has suggested a daring approach for the Indian squad as they get ready to play Bangladesh in the opening Test of their forthcoming series. With three spinners and two fast bowlers, Raina recommended that India field a spin-dominant assault for the match, which gets off at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday. Raina bases his plan on the characteristics of the Chennai surface, which he believes would favor spinners because of the black soil content. Along with fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah, he suggested choosing the spin quartet of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

“I think India should field three spinners and two pacers, for a total of five bowling options. As we all know, Jasprit Bumrah is a terrific player, and in the last few years, he has done more for the Indian cricket team than almost any other fast bowler in history. Mohammad Siraj has been performing well in red-ball cricket. So, in the context of the LLC news conference, Raina said to IANS, “India should go ahead with two pacers and Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav.”

“Ashwin and Jadeja combination on Indian pitches is the most deadly combination so with the condition that Chennai pitch offers, the black soil, humid conditions, and the winds they will just unsettle the opponents,” he stated.

With a 68.52 percent rating, India is now atop the World Test Championship (WTC) standings and is trying to maintain their advantage. Because it comes before the Test series against Australia and New Zealand, the series versus Bangladesh is very important.
