As play on Day 2 of India’s second Test against Bangladesh was halted without a ball being bowled at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium, hundreds of fans who had come to witness the game were disappointed and departed feeling crushed. With rain and a damp outfield making play impossible, it was a painful wait for the spectators as Kanpur hosted a match after a long period. Continuous rainfall throughout the morning gave way to light rain by midday, but with no improvement in outfield conditions, play could not restart. With three days remaining, India feels hopeful of achieving a result, assuming the rain stops.

“We came from Gorakhpur to witness five days of a Test match but were disappointed when today’s washed out. After seven years, Kanpur is hosting a match, yet we need basic amenities. Lucknow is home to the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, which has first-rate amenities.

Despite an inconsistent performance from their key players in the first Test, India has shown depth in both batting and bowling. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli scored only 34 runs over four innings, but the squad still generated competitive totals due to centuries from Ravichandran Ashwin.

Another Lucknow fan added, “Maja nahin aya match dekhne ko milta, jayda behtar hota. We traveled from Lucknow and stayed here intending to enjoy five days of activity, but just 35 overs were played yesterday, and not a single ball was bowled today. We feel horrible, but nobody can control the rain. We came here to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma bat, but we’ve just seen the field.” On Virat Kohli’s drop in form, he remarked, “See, there should be no concern about Kohli’s form; he is a big player who will score runs soon.” “We all saw what he did at the T20 World Cup.”

A local fan from Kanpur’s Civil Lines neighborhood stated, “Obviously, as fans, we are disappointed not to be able to watch the game on Day 2.” Kanpur hosted the match after a long period; prominent players were present, and I was unable to watch. Virat’s form has been a concern, but he is a strong player whose bat will speak shortly.

Regarding the impending Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, he stated, “Nathan Lyon always speaks big. Last time, Rishabh Pant slammed him all over the ground. Pant will score runs again… “Gabba ka ghamand dubara tootega.” Listen to the newest songs only on JioSaavn.com.
