Indian swimmers Tanish George Mathew, Vishal Grewal, Anand AS, and Srihari Nataraj got to the final of the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay at the Asian Games on Thursday. They qualified for the final by setting a national record of 3:21.22 in their heat. The men’s 4x100m freestyle relay final will begin today in Hangzhou at 6:18 PM. Tanish, Srihari, and Anand also helped set the previous national record at the 2019 Asian Age Group Championships, which was 3:23.72.
The women’s 4x200m freestyle relay team also made the final, finishing eighth in the preliminaries in 8:39.64. They’ll swim for a medal at 6:36 p.m. Earlier, Srihari Natraj, Likith Selvaraj, Sajan Prakash, and Tanish Matthew failed to finish on the podium in the Asian Games men’s 4x100m medley relay.
In the men’s 4x100m medley relay heats, Indian swimmers Srihari Nataraj, Likith Selvaraj, Sajan Prakash, and Tanish George Matthew timed 3:40.84 to qualify for the Finals.
While ranking fourth overall, 6.04 seconds behind China, the Indian quartet beat the national record set in the 2018 Asian Games. In the heats, the Indian team had an excellent time of 3:40.84.
