Hardik Pandya, an all-rounder for the Indian cricket team, shined with both bat and ball as Rohit Sharma defeated Bangladesh in the first T20I in Gwalior on Sunday. Hardik blasted an unbeaten 39 off only 16 deliveries and bowled 1/26 to become India’s best performance. Hardik’s performance drew accolades from fans and analysts alike, but former India fast bowler RP Singh says there are better opponents to assess his improvement than Bangladesh.
(I believe evaluating a performance against Bangladesh to assess a player’s form is incorrect). With the manner they’re playing,
“Hardik performed well; he can do stuff like that. However, evaluating performance versus this team as a criterion, in my opinion, is incorrect. Do it against a better squad or in a more competitive environment.”
In addition to his batting, Hardik contributes significantly to the bowling department as a quick bowler. RP Singh said that it was wonderful that he bowled his complete four-over quota in the match against Bangladesh, hailing it as a great indicator for Rohit Sharma and co.
It was always a doubt if he could bowl his entire quota, but he is doing so well today. His batting has always been outstanding, but he has improved his bowling and conditioning. The performance of the Bangladesh squad alone is not enough to get me enthused. “There are many real tests to come,” he continued.
