Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot, stated that he envisions Rahul Gandhi as a future leader who will guide the nation, with the entire opposition supporting him during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
During the interview with PTI, Sachin Pilot mentioned how Gandhi has criticized the BJP-led government for its failures across all areas following the successful Bharat Jodo Yatras and positive outcome for the Congress.
When questioned about the effects of the ex-Congress president taking on the role of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, he replied, “Rahul Gandhi has effectively led as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.” He is posing relevant questions that the government cannot answer. He serves as the LoP not only for the Congress but also for all other opposition parties. It is a position dictated by the constitution that comes with a great deal of accountability. Mr. Gandhi has been very outspoken in addressing important concerns of the public, leaving the government scrambling to come up with a response. The government’s inability to provide satisfactory answers is leading them to make U-turns.
The ex-minister claimed that the government is putting forward and retracting agendas, accusing the BJP-led central government of incompetence. He expressed his belief that Rahul Gandhi will lead the country in the upcoming elections, with the full support of the people of India and the opposition.
He also mentioned that the government has had to backtrack on certain decisions made after the Lok Sabha elections, such as the proposal for lateral entry in the civil services and the Waqf board bill. A feeling of conceit and control characterized the central government’s actions over the past decade, but there has been a significant shift as the people of India delivered a strong and sobering message in the recent general election, he stated.
Sachin Pilot stated that the public trusts the opposition more than the current government, and the BJP is aware of this. He said that we will achieve a convincing win in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, and the following two states – Maharashtra and Jharkhand – will also strongly support the INDIA bloc.
After serving as an MP for five terms, Gandhi now represents the Rae Bareli constituency like his mother Sonia Gandhi. He became the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha in June following the general elections.
He emerged victorious in two electoral districts, but gave up his position in Wayanad, Kerala, where his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will run in a by-election. In 2004, he made his Lok Sabha debut after winning from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
