Rahul Gandhi of the Congress took issue with actor-politician Kangana Ranaut’s statement that farmers should call for the reinstatement of farm laws, asking whether the BJP’s senior leadership was setting up an acid test.
In a video message today, Rahul Gandhi stated, “The BJP people keep testing ideas.” “They invite someone to hold a concept in front of the public and gauge their response. “This is what transpired,” he stated, referring to Kangana Ranaut’s remark without mentioning her specifically.
“Modi-ji, please elaborate. Are you against this, or are you getting into trouble again?” he said.
“Are you going to revive the black laws? If you do, I guarantee that the INDIA bloc will stand with the farmers,” he continued.
This time, Ms. Ranaut told reporters that the farm rules that were repealed should be reinstated and that “the farmers themselves should demand it.” She had previously received criticism from the party’s top leadership for her previous remarks on topics pertaining to farmers.
“I know this will be controversial… but I feel the farm laws that were repealed should be brought back. The farmers themselves should demand it. They are a pillar of strength for the nation’s development and I want to appeal to them – demand the laws back for your own good,” the speaker remarked.
Once more, the BJP refuted her statement.
Party spokesman Gaurav Bhatia stated, “Kangana Ranaut is not authorised to make such a statement on behalf of the BJP and it does not depict the BJP’s view on the farm bills.”
“My views on farm laws are personal and they don’t represent the party’s stand on those Bills,” replied Ms Ranaut.
