Prashant Kishore’s Jan Suraj Party (JSP), a recent addition to Bihar politics, revealed its initial candidate for the Bihar by-election on Wednesday. The party announced Lieutenant General (Retired) Krishna Singh as its initial candidate. He plans to run in the by-election for the Tarari assembly seat.
In the meantime, Prashant Kishor and JSP working president Manoj Bharti confirmed that three more candidates will be revealed shortly. The JSP founder mentioned that Krishna Singh is the Sena’s vice chief from Bihar. We are proud to have him as our candidate from Tarari, and we aim to win and rid the area of land mafias.
Krishna Singh, who previously lived in Karath village and now resides in Noida following retirement, recently became a member of the JSP and stated that he was drawn to the party due to its innovative concepts.
Krishna Singh has achieved great success in the military, earning the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM) during his career. The retired lieutenant general, aged 70, also worked as a member of the Armed Forces Tribunal in Delhi from 2014 to 2017. During Operation Parakram and Operation Meghdoot, he led the Siachen Brigade, oversaw the Kupwara Division in Operation Rakshak, and commanded the Corps in Ladakh during the 2009-2010 cloudburst.
In this timeframe, he led the Siachen Brigade, oversaw the Kupwara Division in Operation Rakshak, and managed the Corps in Ladakh during the cloudburst of 2009–2010. Despite Kishor’s impressive beginning in his political career alongside the prominent Singh, his party still faces the obstacle of the state’s caste-oriented politics.
The Tarari seat became available when Sudama Prasad, the CPI(ML)L MLA, won the Lok Sabha election in Arrah. It is one of four assembly seats in Bihar, along with Ramgarh, Belaganj, and Imamganj, that will have by-elections on November 13. Sudama Prasad has been winning the elections in the Tarari seat, a CPI(ML)L stronghold since it was established post the 2008 delimitation, in both the 2015 and 2020 polls.
Sunil Pandey, also known as Narendra Kumar Pandey, who belongs to the Bhumihar community, served as the representative of Tarari from 2010 to 2015 with influence from the combined voter support of CPI(ML)L and RJD.
