Former actress turned politician Kangana Ranaut, a BJP Member of Parliament, stated on Tuesday that the farm laws which were previously abolished should be reinstated for the benefit of farmers, causing criticism from opposition parties prior to the important Haryana Assembly elections.
The member of parliament representing Mandi, Himachal Pradesh in the Lok Sabha, praised farmers as the key support in India’s development and recommended they advocate for agricultural laws to improve their own wealth.

In a video shared by Congress on X, Ranaut was heard saying that she strongly believes farm laws should be reinstated for the benefit of farmers.
Farmers from Haryana and Punjab spearheaded extensive demonstrations against farm laws in 2020 and stayed at Delhi borders for over a year following the passage of three bills by Parliament. Nevertheless, the government revoked the laws when the protesting farmers refused to relent on their demands.
Opposition criticises Kangana and BJP
Partap Singh Bajwa, the Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, stated that the BJP should promptly address the actor’s comment if they do not stand behind it.
Employing Kangana as a substitute to criticize farmers is a deliberate decision. The BJP needs to make its position on the farmers and the farm laws clear. The Congress leader suggested that Kangana should prioritize reviving her declining Bollywood career instead of advocating for these harmful laws in politics.
AAP MP from Punjab Malvinder Singh Kang expressed his sympathy towards PM Modi. He stated he didn’t comprehend farmers’ worries and is withdrawing the laws. It appears that Kangana is either challenging PM Modi or PM Modi has lost power, only BJP knows.
